How do we use ‘since’ and ‘for’ to talk about time?

Confusion arises between since and far while we use Perfect Continuous Tense.

Since is used to specify the point of time.It tells the starting point of action. For example since March, since last year, since 2010, since Sunday.
It is used for present perfect and past simple.
To make it more clear below are some sentences-
1. I have been working there since July.
2. I worked there since 2005 to 2010.

For is used to specify the total period of time.(how long it lasted for).
For example- for 2 hours,for a week,for a month,for a year.
It is used in all tenses.
To make it more clear,some sentences are given below-
I am exercising for an hour today.
He went London for 4 months.
They have been living here for 10 years.
