In this post, we discuss the phrase, “The show must go on”.
Let’s begin with some examples:

- The investors may back out at the last minute but the show must go on.
- The Commanding Officer was severely injured in the enemy firing. Before he lost consciousness, he called his second in command and said, “The show must go on Captain. Don’t leave those bastards”.
- “The best player in our forward line has been carried out on a stretcher after an injury but the show must go on. We will crush them”
Any guesses?
It’s actually quite simple.
The show must go on means the activity must continue despite problems or hindrances. It is generally used when something which was going on comes under danger because of some new problem. The spirit is that in spite of the new challenges, the activity must go on unhindered.
Use this phrase to express someone’s commitment that even with the new problems, the previous activity would go on uninterrupted.
Let’s close with some more examples:
- The company is facing financial problems but the show must go on.
- Some people will try to create problems at the fast venue. A small team of volunteers will be ready to escort them out of the stage. In the meantime, the show must go on.
- There were strict instructions that come what may, the show must go on. The printing press would not be closed even for a day.
