Like two peas in a pod..???

Ramesh and Suresh are like two peas in a pod. Both love Five Star.

Mahesh and Suresh are as similar as two peas in a pod except for their English speaking skills. Mahesh can hold his own in front of anyone while  Suresh struggles to even express basic ideas.

A pea is मटर and a pod is मटर की फली. Now, imagine a pea pod and two peas in it. The basic idea stems from the assumption that two peas in a pod would be exactly similar. Thus, two peas in a pod, translated in hindi would mean: एक फली के मटर के दो दाने.

This phrase is used for people, or things so similar that it seems everything they have seen or experienced was exactly the same, their environment has been identical just as it would be for two peas in a pod. Let’s take a look at some examples:

1. Ram is a rich businessman’s son from Guwahati. Raghav’s father is a lawyer in Lucknow. However, they are as similar as two peas in a pod. Everyone in college thinks they are brothers or at least childhood friends.
2. I and Sharma uncle were two peas in a pod. We were always together, we did everything together, we liked similar things, we fought with the same guys and everyone thought our friendship really rocked. Now, we hardly get to see each other.
3.  We always thought Smita’s husband would be more organized. However, Saurabh is even more disorganized than her. It seems they are two peas in a pod. They like similar things, they watch similar movies, listen to the same kind of songs and none of them is bothered about cleaning their drawing room.

Use the phrase, “Two peas in a pod” when you want to underline similarity or close proximity or nearness between two people. It could be a similarity of habits and traits, a very close friendship or any other proximity.
