Better English speaking - Vim and Vigor

Anna Ji’s supporters in Ramlila Maidan were full of vim and vigor

After Sudhir talked to the BodhiSutra Training Advisor, he began his campaign for exceptional English speaking skills with full vim and vigor.

“Vim and vigor” – a simple phrase but with impact. It’s so common, it has become a cliche, and it means with full enthusiasm and energy. Thus, when you exhort someone to go about doing a task with vim and vigor, you are asking them to put in all their energies. When you say that someone did something with full vim and vigor, you are saying that they put in all their energy and enthusiasm into the task.

Let’s take some examples:

  1. Boys, show some vim and vigor else we will lose.
  2. After the defeat, King Bruce was not disheartened. He went back, rallied his forces and attacked once again with vim and vigor.
  3. His vim and vigor amazes me. Even after the worst of defeats and even in the worst of circumstances, he is always full of vim and vigor. He is never disheartened.

It’s a pretty straightforward phrase and you can use it almost everywhere when you want to emphasize how energetically something is done.

Let’s close with some more examples:
