Welcome back to yet another step in our journey towards better English speaking skills. In this post, we discuss the phrase, “Have a sweet tooth”.
Let’s checkout some examples:
- Uncle Radheshyam has always had a sweet tooth. He puts three spoonfuls of sugar in a cup of tea. Diabetes dare not touch him. On the other hand, uncle Banwari has led the most austere life. Simple food, simple living – not much spices, not much sugar, still he has diabetes.
- You have a sweet tooth and you should be careful. If you keep eating so much candies and sweets, you will become fat.
- Raghu has a sweet tooth. The best birthday gift for him would be a box of chocolates.
Having a sweet tooth expresses the idea that someone really loves sweet stuff. If you like eating sweets and candies a lot, you have a sweet tooth. You could think of it as a tooth with special affinity for anything sweet.
Let’s study some more examples of the phrase in action:

- Both of us brothers have a very bad sweet tooth. We would always fight for the bigger share of any sweets that would come to our place. We would quietly open mom’s box and steal sweets from it. One day, we were caught and mom gave us the beating of our life. However, our love for anything sweet continued.
- Little Pinky has a sweet tooth. Whenever I go to my brother’s house, I have to take a box of chocolates for her. Oh, did I tell you, Pinky is my brother’s daughter.
