For this post, we obtain our English communication lesson from a documentary on Bermuda triangle.
Now, for those of you who haven’t heard about it, Bermuda triangle is an area in near Miami in the US and Carribbean Islands where ships and aircraft mysteriously disappeared.

Let’s now devote sometime to some of the interesting words and phrases in this video:
Do you have a fix yet:
Fix here means solution. So this phrase is a conversational way of saying, “Have you been able to find a solution to my problem as yet”. Example sentences:
The new Finance Minister doesn’t have a fix on the recession in the economy.
The new chief minister doesn’t yet have a fix on the law and order situation in the state.
Ordnance
It means weapons and explosives. You must have heard of the ordnance factory in Jabalpur where guns and pistols and revolvers are made.
After I recieved my license, I ordered for a pistol from the Ordnance Factory in Jabalpur
Robust
Robust means strong, not easily broken or destroyed.
The walls of the bank building have to be really robust. You don’t want someone to break in through the walls and decamp with all the cash.
Doomed
Doom means final destruction. Something is doomed when it is marked for certain death (here, destruction).
The doomed train missed the signal, the driver had a sudden heart attack and the brakes developed a malfunction. There was no way this accident could have been avoided.
Fearing the worst
Afraid that the worst fears have come true.
Mr Singh heard shots being fired in the farmhouse. Fearing the worst, he came out and saw the two brothers lying in the pool of blood, dead.
Wreckage
Broken pieces after an accident or a crash
The wreckage of the plane was found in a field outside the city
Distress calls
Calls for help by a pilot or driver or someone in trouble.
The police recieved distress calls from people trapped in the cinema hall but took too long to respond.
Anomaly
Abnormality
The property dealer giving you such nice terms is an anomaly. Check out all the details before you make the payment.
