There was an abandoned palace at the outskirts of the village and villagers told horrible stories of ghosts and demons in the palace.
Carve = Cut out
The Ajanta caves are remarkable because they have been carved out of solid rock
Shrine = Religious place
Badrinath is an important shrine for the Hindus
The god does not reside in shrines be it of any religion. The God resides in our hearts.
Sculpture = Piece of art, statue
Several valuable sculptures were recovered from the smuggler’s den
Celestial = Connected to the skies, stars, planets etc.
It is your hard work that decides your luck not some arrangement of celestial bodies
Indian scientists were very advanced in terms of their knowledge of celestial bodies
Solstice One of the two days in a year when the sun is farthest from the earth. You have a winter solstice and a summer solstice
Obsession = A preoccupation with doing something. When you crazily want to do something even to an unhealthy degree.
The corrupt minister got obsessed about a young air hostess who was his employee. This eventually led the air hostess to commit suicide.
Subterranean = Under ground
The Fight Club is a subterranean place where drug junkies, criminals and renegades gather and enjoy illegal fights which result in severe injuries and even death.
