Praising him to the skies now is a fashion. No one bothered about his genius while he was in the wilderness.
Suman enrolled for a new kind of spoken English program to achieve better English speaking skills. After a few months, he was speaking better than all of us. When we asked her, she praised the training program to the skies. The very next day the whole gang enrolled for the program!
Praising something or someone to the skies – should be pretty straightforward. It is a lot of generous praise directed at something. It can be a praise well deserved and it can be an exaggerated praise as well but on the whole, it is a neutral phrase.
Let’s take some examples:
- Some people think that praising their kids would spoil them. I do not agree. I mean, you may not praise them to the skies but at least let them know that you appreciate them when they do something praiseworthy. It boosts their confidence and gives them courage.
- In India, the moment a new cricketer performs well, the media praises him to the skies. However, when the rough patch hits, the media is equally heartless with the condemnations.
The sensing is praising someone so much that it seems you have raised him to the skies.
Let’s close with some more examples:
- His friends praise him to the skies but I don’t think he is too bright.
- I do not understand why every newspaper praises him to the skies. I mean he has not yet proved himself. Worst still, whatever little he has put his hands in has resulted in disaster.
- The newspapers praised Dhoni to the skies after the World Cup win.
- Now that his movies have repeatedly made waves, praising Anurag Kashyap to the skies has become the in thing. For years while he was in wilderness, no one bothered about his genius. It is true, nothing succeeds like success.
