Rough and tumble means, well rough and tumble. Something which involves a lot of high voltage action, fighting, tumbling and competition. Something close to a hand to hand combat. Now, it may not literally involve fighting – the phrase is used to indicate something which involves high voltage competition where you have to get your hands dirty. You cannot just sit back and control the fight with a remote control. Something where you have to get involved into the rough action first hand.
